Submerged Aerated Filters ( SAF ) are a well proven technology
for wastewater treatment. The F.L.I. Brightwater HSAF®
unique SAF design provides a versatile static bed process, using the
BMax®
floating media, which can be configured for biological wastewater
treatment in
aerated mode or as a suspended solids filter in unaerated mode. A
version
enabling the operator to switch between these treatment modes is
available. All variants
utilise periodic media bed cleaning
cycles. These units offer the following system advantages:
- High quality effluent
For example the HSAF® can achieve <1mg/l ammonia in
tertiary aerated mode or <10mg/l suspended solids in filtration mode.
- Small footprint
The HSAF® uses Bmax® media which offers a
high specific surface area (700m²/m³). This combined with an
efficient oxygen transfer system, results in a compact and robust
wastewater treatment process.
- No sludge buildup
Automated cleaning cycle periodically removes excess sludge whilst
independently maintaining sludge age.
- Low power usage
The high efficiency of the process air system ensures a very low air
and
power requirement.
- User Friendly
Proven, simple & robust process requires virtually no maintenance
during normal operation.
- Flexible delivery
Available as mobile packaged or bespoke SAF type wastewater treatment
systems.
Package plant can be
purchased, hired or is available for demonstration units. The standard
product is available in a range of four sizes, the largest of which can
treat up to 1000 PE in a single unit. Bespoke designs for on-site
construction are produced for larger schemes, as an alternative to
multiple packaged SAF units.
